Dr Christopher Kong San Choon is a specialist in the field of Gastroenterology who was inducted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1999. He completed his training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Gastroenterology in the UK, and was accredited into the United Kingdom Speciality register in 2007 for both GIM and Gastroenterology.

Being active in medical research, he was awarded his Doctorate in Medicine, United Kingdom, in 2008 after a 2-year period in translational medical research using molecular and microbiological techniques in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Dr Kong has been involved in multiple clinical trials and research studies, with multiple publications in scientific and clinical journals.

In open competition, he was awarded the much sought-after post of Clinical Fellow in interventional Endoscopy in the internationally renowned University College Hospital, London, United Kingdom. Awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship, Dr Kong completed his Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) training in St Thomas’ Hospital, London, in 2018.

Dr Kong performed the first motorised spiral enteroscopy in South East Asia in 2019, a new technique which makes it possible for small intestines to be thoroughly examined in just 30 minutes, in contrast to 6 hours by balloon-assisted endoscopes.

Dr Kong helped set up the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Sengkang General Hospital as Clinical Lead of the department. He previously served as Senior Consultant in Singapore General Hospital and was Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre.

Dr Kok Wai Leong is an accredited dermatologist with a special interest in eczema, psoriasis, photodermatology and skin cancers. He is well versed in the treatment of difficult inflammatory and immunological skin conditions, as well as the use of biologic therapy and phototherapy. He treats children and adult dermatology conditions, performs skin surgery as well as cosmetic and laser procedures.

Prior to private practice, Dr Kok was a Visiting Consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and at the Singapore National Skin Centre. He was also a Visiting Consultant at the Department of Dermatology, Singapore General Hospital.

Dr Kok is proficient in the management of occupational-related skin diseases. He is a medical assessor at the Civil Aviation Medical Board, and a visiting consultant dermatologist at the Singapore Armed Forces Military Medicine Institute.

Dr Kok has also accrued accolades in service excellence and clinical quality, which is a testament to his commitment to building strong doctor-patient relationships. To date, he is known to deliver personalised treatment tailored to the needs of his patients. This is thanks to his strong belief that each patient should be cared for uniquely, despite any similarity of the case.

Dr Kok has a keen interest in clinical research and his work has been presented in regional and international meetings. He has scientific publications in distinguished peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for international journals.

He was a clinical tutor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS), and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), and has received an award in teaching, in recognition of his efforts in education.

Dr Shermela Appan is a Singapore Ministry of Health accredited paediatrician since 1981, with special interests in children’s growth and puberty, and asthma and allergies.

Dr Appan has up to 29 years of private paediatric experience as a partner at The Children’s Medical Centre in Bishan, before joining StarMed Specialist Centre (HMI Medical Centre).

Dr Adrian Poh currently serves as Medical Director of HMI OneCare Clinic.

With more than 2 decades worth of experience, Dr Poh has seen much in his clinical practice. Both in the public and private sectors. His unique insight and vast experience earned him several clinical and service excellence awards.

Dually trained in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine, Dr Poh has also received 3 years of Advanced Specialty Training in Gastroenterology. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine and a Masters in Medicine (Internal Medicine). Dr Poh is also an elected member of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP, Edinburgh), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (RCPS, Glasgow), and College of Family Physicians (CFPS, Singapore).

He is an accredited Family Physician registered with the Family Physicians Accreditation Board (MOH) and CFPS.

Dr Poh also spends time tutoring medical undergraduates from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine NUS and Duke-NUS, as well as Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residents from NUHS and SGH respectively.

He is still active as an Adjunct Lecturer and Adjunct Clinical Educator appointments with Yong Loo Lin and Lee Kong Chian Schools of Medicine at NUS and NTU respectively.

Perhaps one of his defining achievements, Dr Poh has held competitive grants in Hepatitis B and Hepatocellular Carcinoma research, and is also published in the fields of Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology and Medical Education.

His research in the field of Gastroenterology has won multiple awards. Due to this recognition, Dr Poh has been invited to speak at local and international Gastroenterology research conferences in Singapore, Germany, and the USA.
