In a recent crackdown of illegal health products sold on local e-commerce and social media platforms by the Health Science Authority (HSA), local authorities found that more than 82 per cent of the listings were for unregistered contact lenses. Dr Val Phua, Director of Cataract & Refractive Surgery & Comprehensive Ophthalmic Services at Eagle Eye Centre, discusses the dangers of counterfeit lenses and the types of eye complications that can arise from using unregistered contact lenses.
