Dr Wong Kia Boon graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2003. He had spent a decade in surgical wards, operating theatres, and ICUs soon after. In 2008, Dr Wong was admitted as a Member of the Royal college of Surgeons. Two years later, he received his Masters of Medicine(Surgery).

Not to shy away from the unconventional, Dr Wong had practised medicine in hotels, nursing homes, police stations, and clinics. He had also earned accreditations in Family and Occupational Medicine.

As an avid programmer, Dr Wong served a full-time stint in the HealthTech industry for almost 3 years before returning to clinical practice.

Dr Wong is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), an accreditation in healthcare IT management and leadership accorded by The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) based in Illinois, USA.

Interestingly, in 1996, Dr Wong received the Prime Minister's Book Prize.
