Dr Chiew graduated from the International Medical University (IMU) in 2012 and was awarded the John Joseph Bosco Memorial Gold Medal for achieving the highest academic excellence of his graduating class. He became an Internal Medicine Specialist after obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2017. He subsequently passed the Speciality Certificate Examination (Endocrinology and Diabetes) by the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2022 and completed his fellowship subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Diabetes in 2023.

Dr Chiew is a member of the Endocrine Society (United States of America), the European Society of Endocrinology and Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society.
